Joe sent me a can of the product and without any disassembly, I sprayed the stuff into the relay and the engine started, with a happy roar and we never had that problem ever again.I have used it in cases where a battery (as small as a watch battery) had failed and coated the terminals. Hosa CAIG DeOxit Cleaning Solution SprayOne of the huge Detroit diesel engines in our boat had a starter relay that was not functioning properly. I applied the DeOxit with a cotton swab and oila, good as new. I could have spent more than a day taking off the turbocharger and the aftercooler to replace the relay. I told my Brother in law, Joe, about my problem. At one time the product was available only through the manufacturer and when I called the company I told them that if the Deoxit was good on pancakes and waffles they would have a perfect product. The person I spoke to told me that they were working on it.
Particularly effective for low current and/or low voltage applications. A professional quality product that lives up to the hype & easily justifies its relatively high cost. Used by electronics repair & pro audio technicians that need an effective, long lasting cleaner & conditioner for any kind of metallic, current-carrying contacts. Don't use it for cleaning "pots" (potentiometers) or faders & be careful not to squirt it on plastics, including plastic parts of switches. If possible, apply directly to the metal parts where they contact each other & "exercise" the connection to work it into them.Don't use too much -- you probably won't ever need to use anything besides the lowest spray rate setting on the nozzle.
The aerosol can will loose its proellant in a very short time. The company says this normal, but there is nothing on the can to suggest it. Buy the liquid if you need this stuff.
After seeing this product mentioned on some VW forums, I decided to try it on the wiring harness for my VW Golf TDI. I sprayed it on, let it dry for five minutes and the light has not come back on. Basically, I read that the wire becomes corroded and causes the light to come on in the car. This product did the trick. I would HIGHLY recommend this product for cleaning any connections. I am sure that it would work equally well on other electronic devices.
I carry a can with me on Big Screen TV service calls. I have used this product for many years and can tell you it is the best. Don't waste your time with other cleaners, just buy this and remember to follow the instructions, especially wiping off the excess. It doesn't take a lot to do the job so use it sparingly and it will work for you.
